Senet Reborn Rule Guide
Rules shared by both game modes
- Each side has 5 pieces. The starting setup alternates across spaces 1-10.
- Four sticks are used to roll: 1-4 light sides count as 1-4, and 0 light sides count as 5.
- Rolling 1, 4, or 5 grants an extra roll.
- Goal: move all 5 of your pieces off the board into the finish.
- Capturing is not allowed on safe spaces (15, 26, 27, 28, 29) and not against protected chains.
- Blockade: 3 opposing pieces in a row block crossing.
- If no forward move is possible, a backward move must be made (if possible).
- Space 27 (House of Water): the piece is moved back to space 15; if occupied, it moves to the nearest free space before it.
Rule Set 1: Classic
- Traditional rule set inspired by Kendall.
- No reserve entry: all pieces start on the board.
- Capturing on an occupied enemy space swaps positions: the enemy piece moves to the attacker's origin space.
- Bear-off grouping rule: all of your pieces must be in the last row (spaces 21-30) or already finished before bearing off.
- Exact bear-off (3-2-1 rule): from space 28 only with 3, from 29 only with 2, from 30 only with 1.
- Space 30 can only be entered from space 26.
Rule Set 2: Flow (modern)
- Modernized variant with a Flow effect on a roll of 5.
- On a roll of 5, choose one effect: extra step (+1), bypass blockade, or activate protection.
- Flow protection: the moved piece cannot be captured until your next turn.
- No grouping requirement for bearing off: pieces may finish independently of the overall position.
- No exact final roll required: from space 30+ the piece bears off directly (overflow is ignored).
- More flexible access to space 30: from spaces 26, 28, or 29.
- Special rule: if you land on space 26 (STOP), a possible bonus roll is lost.
